Female Wedding Ushers, What Do They Wear?

We are thinking about have two of our female friends as ushers for our wedding ceremony. What should they wear? Should we have them wear something similar to the bridesmaids or let them pick something on their own?

Etiquette Now

Yes, the ushers are considered groomsmen and are typically dressed as groomsmen. Females are now standing in this position, but dress as bridesmaids. The one difference is that they wear the same boutoniere as the other groomsmen.

I like Nancy’s idea though, very much. If this is an informal wedding, they could just be called hostesses and seat the guests. You really only need a lot of attendants if you have a large number of guests.

There is some information about New Attendants Roles in theBride’s Book of Etiquette.
