I just purchased my girlfriend a beautiful engagement ring. It consists of two rings that join together, one is the engagement ring and one is the wedding band. The two separate rings were obviously made to be worn together but I know only the engagement ring is presented for the proposal. Is it inappropriate to propose to my girlfriend and present her with both rings since they fit together? And then ask her to wear only one until the wedding? The ring looks amazing with both pieces, but it just doesn't look complete with just the engagement ring. I just don't think the ring has the "wow" factor without the wedding band. If I did propose using both rings, would she wear them both the first day to show off to her friends and then take the wedding band off until the wedding? I love the tradition of sealing the marriage day with the band, but the engagement ring looks very incomplete without the band. Help![;)]

Engagement ring and wedding band?
#2
Dear Arattray,
It is appropriate to propose with both rings and give her the choice of wearing one or both, since they are a set. This is getting more and more common. For me, I really think we should wait until the wedding to wear the wedding ring. Call me old fashion in some ways. [;)]
Best wishes,
