I am MOH for a friend's wedding. She asked if my son would be the ring bearer of course I said yes. Months later she told me they had picked the tux and the cost of rental was $130.
I found out what type of tux it was and found I could buy the tux for around $35 and rent the tie & vest for $15.
However the bride sounded very hesitant when I asked her if this would be ok. The fact is we don't have a lot of extra money right now. We just had a new baby, bought a new house (haven't sold the old one yet, etc. etc.) I have my dress to get, & the bridal shower, & gifts to pay for too. I hate complaining about money though.
Then I found out the 'hesitation' was because the groom would not get his tux for free if we did not rent one.?. They are trying to spend as little money as possible on the wedding.
Am I wrong? I guess if it the same style tux I don't see the problem with it.

Dear Reluctant,
Typically, the ring bearer wouldn't even wear a tux. Plus, you would be renting or buying the suit. This typically isn't something the bride and groom does. They would want to pick out the style though.
It seems perfectly fine for you to buy the tux if it is the style they chose after all it is your money.
Best wishes,

I agree. Also, the Groom, as for as I know, usually gets his tuxedo for free when the Groomsmen, not the ringbearer, rent from the same company.

Thanks now I don't feel so bad about not wanting to pay the $130 rent.
The tux 'deal' for them was with 6 tux rentals the groom's was free. (2 groomsmen, 1 father, 1 ringbearer, & 2 ushers = free for groom; they actually added the second usher just for that reason.)
Thanks again!
