Two etiquette books haven't been able to help me out with this one......[:)] Do I provide a boutonniere for my mother's long-time boyfriend at my 2nd-time-around, yet formal, wedding? We have a small wedding party; I feel certain he will be my mother's guest at the wedding, though he will play no formal role. I'm not trying to be cheap or petty, just appropriate. We only have boutonniere needs for my fiance', his father, and his best man, and I'm worried that not giving my mother's friend one will look like a slight towards him, something I certainly don't want to entertain on my wedding day. Am I obligated to do so, or is it simply a matter of choice? Thank you so much..............

Yes, if your mother will have a corsage, her escort for the wedding should also have a boutonniere.
