We have recently decided to have our wedding in Montreal (Quebec, Canada.) Which is about 4 hours driving distance from our home town (Bergen County, New Jersey.) The accommodations for our guests are extremely affordable (especially with the exchange rate.) We have not "worked out" any details, however, we have a million questions. 1st-We will be paying for our attendants accommodations for two (2) nights. However, we were thinking of renting a total of four (4) suites and having the "girls" stay in two (2) rooms and the "boys" in the other rooms. Figuring it adds a little bit more fun to the days before our wedding, and should save us a little money...is this acceptable? 2nd-As we chose our destination close to home because it is very very affordable for our guests, is it acceptable to have a bridal shower in my home town? (We do intend to invite almost our whole guest list to our wedding in Montreal.) 3rd (and last question)We will be "covering" the expenses for the rehearsal dinner, are we expected to invite everyone who will be attending the wedding? Or just those who would be normally invited if we had a "traditional" wedding at home?

Thanks for your help!!!

Dear Azzaip,

First of all yes your suites for the bride and groom's attendants is entirely appropriate. If they desire private accommodations, they would incur the expense themselves.

Next, your bridal shower in your home town is also appropriate as long as your shower guests are also invited to the wedding.

Last, your rehearsal dinner is for your bridal party. When finances allow it is also nice to include out of town guests but would surely be a burden on a desitnation wedding.

Relax and enjoy. I suggest you work closely with a wedding consultant in that locality.
