Dear MOB,

There really is no MOB for a blessing of the vows because this is not a wedding, so there is no bride. There is a husband and wife. So, the family of the couple who are having their marriage blessed by the church would dress in the same formality of the event.

But, I'm confused about "My aunt will be wearing a gown." Is this the woman who is the host of this event?

Best wishes,

Actually there is, the catholic church is having us do an actual "MASS" ... My husband and I were married in a lutheren church 10 yrs ago, so 10 yrs later I got a lack of form due to he would like to make his communion and confirmation he never did this... So I got a lack of form which is a small annulement from my ex and now I am free to marry in the catholic church to take the sacrament of marriage.

Basically it is just like a regular marriage mass except with out the taking of communion...

My mom is the mother of the bride, so she would like to know what is proper etiquette since we are Having a Mass & Reception !

My aunt always wears gowns to any wedding !

We are paying for everything my parents & family are paying for small things !

Yes, I do understand about the Catholic mass and your ceremony. It is just that there is a difference between legal and religious. So, let's just bypass that.

Since your Aunt is wearing a gown, it is probably best that your mother does too. Catholic events tend to be more formal in nature anyway. So, your mother won't seem too out of place.

Typically for this type of event though, all of the guests would be dressed in dressy casual--the attire we would wear to a very nice restaurant.

No worries though. She will be fine.

Yes it is a very fancy catering hall, not a restaurant.
