My daughter will be getting married this summer. We need to know what is appropriate attire for her to wear to the rehearsal and then to dinner afterwards where the dress is "Smart Casual".

I would like to see her wear something gauze-y and flowing, perhaps white. Would this "take away" from her wedding gown the next day?

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Mom,

Smart Casual means the attire you would feel comfortable wearing when you are going out on the town. It is very close to Dressy Casual--clothes you wear to a very nice restaurant. So, if she wears what she feels comfortable wearing to a nice restaurant on a first date, she will be fine.

Best wishes,

So it is appropriate for her to wear a white dress for the rehearsal and dinner? It will be dressy but casual. Thanks so much for your speedy reply.

She can wear any color she wishes to wear. It is her choice.
