Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has any advice they could give me with respect to setting my wedding day schedule? I realize every wedding is different (i.e. travel time, etc.) but general information would help. My wedding is at 3 pm and the reception is at 6 pm (same location). By the way, which do you get done first hair or makeup? Also, what is the order with respect to the bride and bridal party?

Regarding hairstyles. I was wondering which would look best with my dress. Keeping in mind my hair is below the shoulder, very fine and straight. A formal updo (with lots of curls?), a half updo, or an intricately woven updo. Just in case it helps my dress has a laced up back with quite alot of beading and embroidery down the front, around and up the back. I am thinking of very simple jewelry and having small flowers in my hair. So I want my hairstyle to enhance not compete with my dress.

Any help on these subjects would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

As far as the schedule goes for the day of your wedding, your hair and make-up as well as your bridal party's hair and make-up should be done a half an hour before everyone needs to be fully ready. This gives you time to get dressed and do any finishing touches. The bride's hair and make-up will take about two hours and will be done towards the end, so she can look fresh. (Just a side note for your bridal party, each make-up will take about a half and hour and each hair will take about 45 minutes.) The girls do not have to get ready in any certain order, just allot for enough time for everyone to be ready for the ceremony. Each artist does hair and make-up differently, but most of the time the hair is done, followed by the make-up.

In regards to the style of your hair, I would do something up and simple. Your dress sounds like it is very detailed and embellished, so I would tone down the hair. Soft, simple, and romantic will complement the dress, and will allow the detailing in the back to show! Good luck, and most importantly have fun.
