I am having a destination wedding in the Bahamas and my niece is going to be the flowergirl. I have been reading how it is proper for the bride and groom to pay for the bridal party's lodging... My sister is not part of the bridal party, so my question is this... do I offer to for my neice's part of the lodging? Also, we are staying at an all-inclusive resort, so do I cover all of my niece's travel (and food) expenses since they are combined?
Thanks, Confused Aunt

Who pays for the flowergirl's lodging??

Dear Confused Aunt,
This is one of those times that it is best to use your best judgment and ethics. You asked her to be a member of your bridal party. She is a child. We always ask the parent of a child attendant to the event. So... wouldn't it be proper to pay for the parent also. Plus, this means that you are paying the entire tab due to the fact that you cannot separate it out.
All inclusives sound like a great deal except for situations such as these. Plus, many do not inform couples that the guests who do not stay at the inclusive hotel cannot attend the wedding without paying a visitation fee or all day pass. This is expensive and something the couple should be paying for their guests. This is something you may want to find out for yourself. Not all resorts charge this.
Best wishes,
