My wife and were married by a justice of the peace on my birthday in 97' while on vacation in VA Beach. We were all alone with absolutely no witnesses. When we returned home everyone was in shock....we had only been together for 4 months! The worst part was never asking our daughters (my wife has 2 and I had custody of my daughter) how they would feel about it. Becoming a blended family was more difficult than I thought, but we worked very hard and got through it. The hardest part was teaching my own daughter that she would have to learn to share me. My wife and her went through some rocky times. No other parents are in the picture so are family unit has become a stronger one. My wife and I would like to have a ten year anniversary party/ vow renewal with a ceremony and reception of her dreams. We just became grandparents at the age of 34 and 36 this past year[unsure] and we would like to include our two youngest girls and also our oldest and her daughter in the ceremony some how, we feel like we owe them that! any ideas? We are having a black and white semi-formal celebration (the wedding we never had) with only about 150 guests. Any ideas to make this super special for my wife and girls would be great!

Thanks

Christian

Dear Christian:

Congratulations on becoming a grandparent!

Please review IDoTakeTwo.com which has some good information on wedding vow renewals and vow renewal etiquette.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to come back and post them here.
