My fiance and I are almost 50 years old--my 2nd marriage, his 1st. To keep things simple, we decided to get married in Las Vegas since we were going out there anyway with another couple. When we announced our engagement, his entire family decided to attend and a few of my family members are attending.
The other couple wanted to take us to dinner after the wedding, and I really feel I must invite everyone. Our budget doesn't allow us to pay for dinner for everyone. Any suggestions on how to approach this with everyone?
If it makes a difference, we are planning a reception for family and friends after we return home.

Dear Las Vegas Bound,
The rule is that if you invite, you pay. So, perhaps you could mention that your friend is taking you out if anyone else is interested in joining you. It would be better though, if your friend said that he/she is buying your dinner as a gift and wouldn't mind at all if everyone else tagged along. This doesn't imply 'inviting'. This just states that you are being treated and others may join you.
Best wishes,
