Poor Students in Wedding Party

3 of my brides' maids, including my maid of honour are college students and do not have a lot of money for travel. My fiance and I are renting a castle in Ireland for a week, so they will all have a place to stay at the wedding site. We are willing to help pay for air fare if need be, but that means we will have to cut our spending in other areas. How do we ask the brides maids to pay what they can and to let us know how much extra they need, but as soon as possible?
