Who picks out the song for the father/daughter dance at the reception, the daughter or the father?
Who picks out the song for the mother/son dance at the wedding reception, the mother or the son?
I don't know how to word this next question but should the songs chosen have lyrics about mothers/fathers or sons/daughters?
I have not seen any help with this. Thank you!

The bride chooses the song for her father/bride dance and the groom chooses his mother/groom dance. It is their special tribute to their parent. They can certainly ask the parent to help choose, but it is their choice to do so.
The lyrics should be special to them both and relate to their relationship as mother/son and father/daughter.

We have found from our experience that the parents of the bride and groom get very involved in choosing the songs they want for those dances. That's why in direct request we wrote special new dances from each point of view, the parents of the bride and groom or the bride and the groom themselves. We even wrote special songs for stepparents so the songs express exactly the emotions they want to convey at that moment. This is a discussion you can have with your parents who many times are thrilled to be able to choose the song they dance to.
