My daughter and fiance moved to Florida last year and are having a summer wedding in MI. We are figuring out most aspects of this but I don't know what to suggest about the wedding gifts. They are planning their honeymoon immediately after the wedding and returning to Florida after that. What would be a good plan to get the cards and gifts that they receive (on their wedding day) to them? I am tempted to offer to fly down to Florida for a long weekend (after they get back) and bring their cards / gifts with me. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Wedding gifts for out of state wedding
#2
Dear MOB With Gifts,
Flying down and staying with a newly married couple may not be the best idea. But, it is nice of you to think of it.
Gifts should be shipped to the couple before the wedding. They should put their home address on all wedding correspondences for their guests to know where to send the gifts. Plus, if guests ask you where they are registered, you could tell them to ship the gifts to their home, which makes it very important for the couple to state this when they register. Many guests now shop on line for wedding gifts and will ship the gifts to the address listed. I always do.
Please do not request guest to give gift cards because they are easier to mail or include registry information in any wedding correspondence. The only exception is the bridal shower invitation, but you wouldn't be involved with this.
If guests bring gifts to the wedding (this happens often), you will just have to ship them to their address.
Best wishes,
