I have two questions.

1. I will be attending a formal evening wedding in Houston in April. The dress I might wear covers about as much of my chest as a tank top (scoop neck, one inch wide straps). It looks pretty respectable; it's not too revealing. Do I need a wrap for a 7 p.m. church wedding, and if so what is appropriate? The dress is pale pink with minimal very subtle beading. Is it inappropriate to wear a white wrap since it's before Memorial Day and it's a wedding? And does a shear wrap count since you can see through it?

2. Finally, I'm tempted to buy a new dress (picture attached), but not sure what's appropriate do to conflicting online etiquette advice on going glam but not being too sexy. Seems hard to manage both. What do you think of this dress? It's champagne colored very pale to beige gold w/ honey-colored beading and fits me better than the pink one.

Either dress would be fine. But, it is true as guests we should try not to appear too sexy at weddings. It is detracting eyes from the bride, which is why we don't wear red.

Because the wedding is being held in a church, it is best to wear a wrap or jacket. It is just respectful of the church. A shear would be fine.

White is no longer a taboo worn at any time of year and to weddings. It is the weight of the fabric we focus on these days when it comes to season appropriate. This is due to so many of us traveling.
