I have a wedding June 4 at 11am at a very nice inn situated near a beach. I know the bride is wearing a full length gown and finger tip length veil. The mother of the bride is wearing a long dress (and now the mother of groom is too b/c she thinks she has to b/c mom of bride is). My question is what on earth do I wear? I am thinking a little above the knee kind of casual cotton dress (see attached pic). My mother in law thinks it is too casual b/c it is cotton (she is the mother of the groom). Is this dress not dressy enough? I didn't think a morning wedding would require a very fancy dress?

I agree. This is too casual. It appears as if this will be a formal, very classy affair. So, wearing something conservative and elegant would be perfect. You could wear a nice semi formal street length dress. Avoid anything flashy or glittery. Fabric is key. Look for something in a very nice quality material.

thank you, I know that the bridesmaids are wearing t-length dresses. Would the attached dress be more appropriate? It has an organza overlay.
