my boyfriend gave me a promise ring for valentine's day a few years back and has recently proposed with an engagement ring. what should i do with the promise ring? i'd like to use my promise ring as my wedding band, am i off base? i figured that since i now have an engagement ring i can take off the promise ring and save it for the wedding. is this heard of?

Experts, correct me if I'm wrong. The ring is symbolic of the continuous circle and any ring would do that. Since the promise ring means so much to you. I for one, don't see that it's a problem.

Of course, you can do whatever you want to do. There is no etiquette involved here. You could even wear this ring on your right hand if you wanted a different wedding ring.

As a jeweler I have made many different styles of rings to represent wedding bands which included promise rings. Personal it would be just fine. good luck.
