Hello! I'm a little confused on what the proper etiquette is on opening money gifts. I've been to several showers lately( bridal & baby), and have seen it done different ways. My shower is coming up at the end of this week. When I open cards with money in them, am I supposed to say how much or just say who the card is from & Thank You? Or what is proper? Thank you very much, I don't want to be rude, insult, or embarrass anyone.

Dear Showering Soon,

Cash at showers? This is different.

It would be best to just thank the person for the generous gift nodding to the fact that it is money, but not saying how much it is. One sum of money is generous to some while the same amount is lacking to another. So, declaring the amount could be embarrassing.

Best wishes,
