Hi there - my boyfriend and I have been talking about getting engaged. However, money is sadly a big issue with the thought of an engagement and wedding. I actually received my grandmother's beautiful engagement ring when she passed away several years ago. I have searched and have not found the answer to my question.... would it be appropriate for me to suggest that when we do get engaged, my boyfriend use my grandmother's engagement ring? I love it and would be proud to wear it as a symbol of our love but I don't know if that is something that would be frowned upon. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Woman's Grandmother's Engagement Ring?

Dear Honoring Family,
By all means wear it. There was a silly, old rule in the past, but it mainly referred to wedding rings. I believe those rules are terribly out-dated as well. With these days of purchasing rings off of the internet and from other non-traditional sources, we should keep more of an open mind here.
Plus, wearing an heirloom ring has always been a very good choice.
Best wishes,

Thank you so much!! I have had such a hard time finding information about a situation when it is the woman's heirloom ring (and not the man's)... so I really appreciate the advice and encouragement!! Thank you!
