Too many Flowers?

I am having an informal outdoor summer wedding next year in a local park. My colors are sky blue, sage green ( a tad bit lighter then sage), and a touch of light yellow. For me, I want a bouquet with a dozen white sprayed roses w/ white ribbon. Then my bridal party will have a half dozen of sprayed yellow roses w/ sky blue ribbon. The groomsmen will have yellow rose boutonnières w/ sage ribbon. Then the centerpieces will be vases that I bought with two white sprayed roses and two yellow sprayed roses. The long picnic tables will also have old tea tins plotted with different flowers like cosmos, daisies, morning glory, & carnations w/ rose petals sprinkled around the tins down the table. Does this sound like a good organization of flowers or is it too much?? The theme of my wedding is country chic so I am trying to bring as much flowers as possible while still tying in my theme. Does this whole idea sound ok??

Any idea would be great!!!

Thanks in Advance!![;)]

Sounds good to me. Just be willing to change types of potted flowers as the season allows. Only use really nice plants. Little potted roses can be nice too. Keep working on the idea and pull it off with style and good craftsmanship. [;)]

Would this work if I potted the flowers just a couple days before the wedding? I know where I can get reasonable prices on flowers and a friend of the family is helping me out. I was thinking just making a day of going to the flower shop. Picking up the flowers that I want and look nice. Then getting some soil and then taking our time to pot them into the tins. Then water them until the day of the wedding. Would that work?? Should I put a liner in the tins then the soil or just the soil?

Thanks in Advance!![:)]

[:)]I used to work in a nursery before my florist days and this is what I would do if I were in your position.

[:)]Buy plastic pots that will fit right into the tins. [:)]Get the annuals about 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time.

Plant them real close in the pot in a nice light soil (like the Miracle grow soil.)

Keep them in a warm nice outdoor spot up off the ground and protected from the elements ( or a greenhouse , which would be even better.)

Fuss with them daily...Water, pinch off old blooms, groom. ([sly]treat them like pets!)

Give them a liquid flower food at low dilution (25% of recommended dose) every few days in the water. My favorite plant food is a fish emulsion and seaweed concentrate that is called Neptunes harvest. It is like a health spa for plants. Be sure to stop using it the week of the wedding though because it has an organic smell.

For the wedding pop them into the tins and cover the soil with a touch of spanish moss just for a finished look.

I have issues with the idea of a couple of days before the wedding thing...#1 is you are subjecting yourself to too much last minute stress. If it rains [crazy][pirate] or droughts or the plants all are wilted at the nursery you will be running around and stressing. Take the job on earlier and stay in control. Forseeing the worst makes a good outcome more rewarding!

#2 The flowers need some time in the pot together to grow in and fill out in a natural way. Transplanting is a stress to them and they need a little time to recover and look their best.

#3 You get to love and nurture something else that will contribute to your beautiful wedding day...So..........Be early , organized and enjoy the project. All the best!!!!!! Sue[sly]
