Hello! We are getting married in Vegas this coming May. We are taking just our parents and my godparents. To us the wedding is a very private thing. Some of our families are hurt that we aren't having the big wedding and reception. Can anybody give me some ideas or advice on what to do to keep the peace?

Many destination wedding couples host a reception when they return. If this is not something you want to do, the choice is yours. Having your wedding your way doesn't always please all of the family involved.

Dear Timeline,

Yes, having a reception some time after your wedding would help those who are not coming to the wedding feel as if they are a part of the celebration. This is especially true if you play a recording of your wedding during your reception. This is very easy these days using some type of projector and your recording. You could even just use your pictures as a slide show.

Best wishes,
