I'm planning a small semi-formal May wedding. I'm not stuck up, but many of my relatives tend to really under-dress when going to these kinds of events. I want everyone to be comfortable and feel confident in what they're wearing, but I'd also like to make sure they won't show up in jeans and T-shirts. [:)]

My invitations will be of a style to help provide the hint, but I definitely don't want to state the type of attire on the invitation, as I have seen done by others -- so would it be OK if I included a short section on my wedding website gently letting everyone know that we're having a semi-formal wedding, and a short description of what kind of attire this means?

I love them all and don't want to offend anyone or make them think I'm being snobby. [unsure] And all this said, even if my hints don't sink in, I'll still be thrilled to celebrate my big day with them, no matter what they're wearing!

Dear Gracious Bride,

Very well said. Many guests appreciate the advise in what to wear. It is the most asked question. So, I think your idea is perfect. You could also include an enclosure with your invitations if you wish.

Best wishes,
