My Fiance and I are getting Married in Hawaii, November 4th, and my dad is going to have his girlfriend there. She has turned into a complete witch, and nobody cares to have her around. We have not spoke to each other the past couple times that we have seen each other, and I don't see that changing any time soon. Would it be tasteless to inform my dad that I do not want her to attend my wedding even though she is going to be flying to Hawaii with everyone else? []

Dear Avoiding the Girlfriend,

If he is hosting, he should be allowed a date. Plus, it is only polite to include a significant other. If they are in a relationship, that counts. So, you are in murky waters here. But, if she is verbally abusive, there are grounds for keeping her away.

This is something you really should discuss with your father.
