can i announce my engagement even though we will be eloping?

my fiancee and I are so excited that we are engaged and we would like to send out a small announcement to only close family and friends. here's the dilemma...we will be eloping overseas in europe (with no one else present).

if we do send out casual announcements...do you have any creative and funny wording suggestions?

Congratulations!

Just to be clear, you do mean announcements and not invitations. Announcements are to be sent after you return from your trip so as not to be confused with an invitation. There is no such thing as sending engagement announcements. Those are published in the newspaper.

We have posted sample elopement announcement wording in the forum in a few places that I can remember. Please use the search or scan the announcements formum to find these samples.
