I would like to give every shower attendee a CD of shower pictures, but as copies cannot be burned until after the shower is over is it okay to provide the bride with the cds to mail with the thank you cards? Or should I just go with the traditional candy or candle that can be handed out at the shower?

I just like the idea of the CD album keepsake. It is less expensive than printing and mailing photos. Anyone can have access, computer or not. Even the brides grandmother can have the pictures printed out at the pharmacy by the clerk, not tech skills required.

I would like to give each attendee a small personalized photo album, but I fear this could get expensive, especially depending on the number of guests.

I've decided to tackle these details very very early to catch sales and manage time. I have full time job, a part time job for the weekends and go to grad school at night. Compounding my situation, the couple have selected a wedding date 2 weeks before my masters degree graduation.

Dear Olinchak,

I'm not sure what you meant about the traditional candy or candle. We would usually have some sort of token for each guest, so I'm guessing this is what you mean.

I suppose you could tell them that all of them would receive a CD of the event as their token gift. There is nothing wrong with this as these 'gifts' are not required.

These also may be shipped with the thank you notes.

Best wishes,

Thank you very much for your help and prompt response. I did intend to give the CDs as the party favor, the token gift and am quite suprised that such a favor is not mandatory.

I think I will send them with the thank you notes. From what I understand, the bride sends the thank you notes; however, since I am the hostess should I also send thank you notes?

I greatly appreciate your wisdom on the matter.

I personally agree that a small gift or token should be mandatory for traditional showers where gifts are given, because it is such a nice gesture.

No. You don't need to write thank you notes. You are doing quite a bit already. It is the bride's duty to do this. If you wanted to send the CDs separately, you could just write a little note about how you enjoyed their company. But, it isn't a must.
