My finance and I are not particularly religious but we still want to get married by a minister in a church. We have chosen a Unitarian minister and right now we are planning on having the ceremony at the Unitarian Church she works in. The building itself is very non-traditional (un-matching folding chairs in the main room, yellow decor, etc.) and I would like to see if I can move the ceremony to another, more traditional looking church.
Not being very religious, i don't know 'the rules.' Can a Unitarian minister perform a wedding ceremony at a church of another denomination? If so, what churches would allow this?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much.

Unitarian Minister in another Church?
#2
A Unitarian minister certainly can. However, you would have to ask if he/she is inclined to, and whether he/she has committed to performing ceremonies only at his/her church. Many churches will let you rent their facilities. I have done ceremonies in Unitarian, Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist and Quaker Churches for example. You will need to do some research. There are Unitarian churches that ARE very traditional looking. For example, there is one here in NYC that was a former Catholic Church, and another which looks like a typical old Congregational church. Both are beautiful and inspiring in different ways.
I would be honest with your minister. Also, he/she may know of another more traditional and beautiful Unitarian church in your vicinity.
Blessings,
Rev. Susanna
