We are having a destination wedding in Jamaica(20 people), and a wedding cocktail reception(80 people), where we will renew vows, share video for all family and friends that couldn't attend in Jamaica. My mom and friends want to hold a bridal shower and I see a lot of postings that say if your not invited to the wedding then you shouldn't have a shower. Is this the case, even though we are having a wedding reception? My bridesmaids are pretty determined that a shower is not improper?

Dear BellaBernie,
Your bridesmaids probably only want the best for you and haven't read what is proper. Only those invited to the wedding may be invited to a shower. The reception doesn't count.
