I am in Los Angeles and have four bridesmaids - MOH is my sister in San Diego, then three others in San Francisco, Virginia, and Washington DC.
The women are all different heights and sizes so I was thinking of four different dresses either the same color or shades of the same like burgundy, plum, wine, etc.
It will likely not be possible for us to all shop together so I need to find a dress that they can try on in their area and then order. Aside from buying at David's Bridal which is the only nationwide chain I can think of, do you have any suggestions for finding the same dress in different shades or different dresses in the same shade?
Should I find a dress or dresses that I like and then inquire through the designer about local retailers?
Thanks!

Yes, find a dress you like. Then do some research as to whether the designer offers designs at a retailer in each of your attendants' home cities. Usually, you can do a web search on the dress designer and find a list of retailers that way. Also, many bridal publications list the retail outlets of a particular dress for you making it a little bit easier.

Or, you can do the reverse and find a bridal salon with shops in each of your bridesmaid's localities and then select a dress from their offerings.
