hello
I am having my reception in a tent on the golf course near my cottage. I am having hard time thinking of wedding decorations for inside the tent...... We are getting married up north, informal wedding. I would like the theme to be something along that line (woodsy, cozy about 80 people attending)... if anyone has ideas or any websites that might be able to help me, I would be very greatful!
Thanks
Jenn

Hi Jenn:
A cute centerpiece could be small tree saplings that can be replanted later. Set into a rustic planter box or any planter type of your choice. You could expand on that idea by giving each guest a tree sapling as a favor or a pack of seeds with a small container and scoop; wrap apropriately and voila!
I just suggested this idea for another bride and I think some of it can pertain to you:
I just watched a show on HGTV where they showed how to make luminaries. This would be an awesome idea for you. The woman had a bunch of really neat ideas for making your own luminaries which would be safe to use.
1. In a decporative pail or planter pot, fill with sand, insert a oilar candle and over that a glass hurricane lamp.
2. Get together any container made of metal (paint cans, large soup cans, etc) fill with water, freexe, punch holes in through the sides to form pattern of your choice, melt the water and remove. Set candles inside.
3. Go to your local home store and get pvc tubes. They will curt them for you. Have them but in lengths of about 12 to 18 inches. Paint with heat resistant paint on the outside. Place on the ground or on your tables, etc and insert a flashlight (light side up).
4. Take stainless steel colanders and place one on top of the other forming a dome over the first. Insert small flashlight or battery operated "touch" lights inside.
You can replace any candle inside a luminary with a flashlight or one of those battery operated "touch" lights" like the ones you see advertised for closet walls. Just be careful about what sort of holder you are using and be sure it's not flammable.
To give your luminaries a "woodsy" feel simply select rustic contaoners to coordinate with your theme and color scheme.
Have fun with these ideas.

Sounds like it might be "cool" enough to enjoy some colorful flannels (smile) or chimneas (fire pits). Depending on the time of the year and if your reception is going to be late afternoon and held into the evening, you might consider purchasing a few and have them placed outside of the tent. They're rustic, charming, and a great place for friends to "sit around", get warm, and converse. Cost is from $90 to $250. They also make excellent marshmallow roasters!
