I am planning a very non-traditional ceremony and reception dinner. We are having our sit-down dinner (not the typical reception with dancing) at an outside seating upper deck restaurant - the restaurant is providing jazz music via satellite radio. But what do we do for the ceremony? It will be taking place at the same location-in a nice corner full of fresh flowers and natural landscape. The ceremony will only be about 10 minutes. Do I need some other type of music for this short of a time?
How will the guests know that I'm about to enter the "upper deck" area and walk to the "altar"? Its a very small wedding (maybe 15-20 people) and I was trying to keep it as casual as possible but the more I think about things, the more confused I get!!

I would suggest the use of a harpist. They would be able to play the march and other appropriate music. They are inexpensive and add a special touch to your ceremony.

For such a short time, you might consider no music at all.
The time it would take for someone to set up to play and then break down the equipment and leave, might not be worth their while. Also, some musicians have a minimum time requirement, and although it would only be for ten minutes, they may charge for an hour to three hours.
Regarding "entering the upper deck", you might consider enlisting the assistance of the restaurant manager and/or employees and have them joyfully announce your entrance. You could have rose petals in containers on each table and the guests can stand as you enter and toss the petals in front of you as you progress to the bower of flowers. Consider the table arrangements if you decide to use this method.
