Hello!

My husband and I have been married for 10 years and want very badly to have a renewal ceremony. I understand the reasons for etiquette, but have a few questions about adding a Jewish ceremony.

My husband is Jewish and I am in the final phases of my conversion. According to Jewish law, we are not really married, just practicing I guess!! There are certain "requirements" that need to be followed for a Jewish ceremony and according to the research I have done, is inappropriate. One is to wear a veil, signing of the ketubah, and several others that give it a feel of a wedding. What is the etiquette in this situation, and do you have any suggestions to make it feel less "weddingish"? I appreciate your time. [:)]

Dear Samber,

Thank you for wanting to appear socially savvy.

I suppose the best way to deal with this is to approach it as a formal, but small family ceremony. If you kept the guest list to only those who really need to be there, you should be fine. You can always have a 'blow out' party afterwards.

Best wishes,
