My parents are setting a $30,000 dollar budget for my wedding. Believe me, I have THANKED them OVER and OVER. But, my parents think that maybe we should do a small wedding and use the rest of the money to travel. I have always dreamed of a huge wedding (200-300guests), but now I am wondering if I should use it for a huge trip. My fiance and I have talked about traveling the country for two months, visiting all of the landmarks, many of the states, ect and then having a small wedding 75people. My parents are fine either way. Now I am confused. My dream wedding or the awesome traveling experience with my new husband. I know the trip would be long and the wedding day is only one day, but do you have any advice on what we should do with the money. (we already have enough money saved to put a down payment on a house approx 25,000 in the bank. We are huge savers. With this in mind, my fiance has mentioned doing a small wedding, skipping the trip, and saving the remainder of the money. But, I think that we only have this one day, this one time period in our lives to do this. Right? ) What should we do?

No one can really tell you what to do here. And trust me, ask my kids, I love to tell people what to do! [tongue]

But, this is really something you and your groom will have to decide on together. It's good practice for the marriage where you'll have to make lots of really important decisions about money and other issues.

Whatever anyone will tell you, it will just be their opinion, their advice, their idea of what's best. Do what makes you both happy.

You are blessed to be in such a fortunate situation, a situation many couples only dream of.

Go within and really decide what is the right thing. One thought: You can compromise a little on every score, smaller wedding though not so small, nice honeymoon but shorter, and still put some money in the bank. It can all be wonderful, but not over the top.

Since you have money saved for a house, and given your age, it doesn't seem that you can go wrong. However, a little savings would be great too!

Blessings!

Susanna
