My entire life my sister has been in the spotlight. No one in my family puts her in her place, she has been dubbed the "princess." She is 4 years older than me and i have been dating my fiance for 4 years now. She changes boyfriends constantly, but has been dating the same guy now for 8months. My fiance and I have set a date in march of 2009, because we are graduating from college in December of 2008. My sister, un-engaged, said that she has set their date for December 6th, 2008. I know they are getting married, but isn't she being rude by scheduling her wedding 1 week before my college graduation and 4 months before my wedding. I have been doing everything right in my life, but she always comes in and tries to steal the spotlight. I talk to my parents but they say that there is nothing they can do. They cannot make her change her date. Should I sit down with her and tell her that I think she is rude for planning her wedding so close to "my time" (graduation and wedding). I feel like she is doing this on purpose. What should I do?

Dear Tommysbride,

Wow, sibling rivalry alert!

Her wedding date really doesn't interfere with yours, but it does interfere with your graduation a bit. That being said, generally a college graduation isn't considered a formal event and only those very close are invited to a party. So, these two events could be planned close together.

It may be best to discuss your feelings with her since this is an issue for you. She just may be surprised at how you feel.

Best wishes,
