Using black chairs for ceremony and reception

I am planning my wedding to be held in April on a very tight budget and looking to save as much as possible on rental items. I will need to rent chairs for use at the ceremony (outside wedding) and reception (in and outdoors) and the white samsonitechairs cost almost twice what the black samsonite chairs. I was thinking I could use ivory (one of my colors) tulle for the sashes to brighten up the black. The men in the ceremony will be wearing black tuxedos. Is it inappropriate to have black chairs? The ceremony will not be a long one (approx. 20 mins)and the chairs will then be moved to the reception tables. Every wedding I have been to or seen pictures of the chairs were always white so I don't want to do anything that people might think not appropriate. Any advice would be appreciated! []

Dear Bpbride,

There isn't anything wrong about it in etiquette land. If they are less expensive, I say go for it as long as they don't get too hot. That probably is not an issue in April.

Please note that tuxedos are formal evening wear.

Best wishes,

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I have a question about the grooms and groomsmen attire now and will post that in the appropriate forum. Thank you again! []
