I interviewed a photographer. She seemed great so I hired her. The day of the wedding she showed up in jeans with holes, her hair a mess and very non social. I didn't say anything to her because she needed to take our pictures. What should I do now that the wedding is over and how could something like that happen?

You mentioned an interview but what did the interview entail? Did you ask for references, portfolio of past work, those sorts of things? If you conducted a very thorough interview there's not much to do until you get the photographs. Perhaps they wil be extraordinary, who knows? Obviously you will not offer this photographer a tip. But, if you have issues with receiving the photographs you can probably call the Better Business Bureau.

Otherwise, you might have to chalk it up to experience and hope for the best.

I'll have to agree with the Moderator, Ellen. Unfortunately, the time to screen out a problem photographer is during the interview. Since your photographer apparently presented herself well then, but showed a very different side on your wedding day, there really is nothing you can do after the fact. Perhaps it would have been wise to ask for refrences, but that's water over the dam.

Best case: You get good photographs that you and your family will treasure; you chalk the episode up to experience; and if someone asks, "Hey, who did your wedding photos?" you reply, "You don't want to know."

If you do run into problems with delivery of the photos, or the quality of the images, then you probably have some legal recourse if you want to pursue it. (You did sign a contract, didn't you?)
