Do we have to have games at the bridal shower

Hi,
I am the MOH and best friend of the bride. I'm planning the bridal shower for sometime in October (wedding is the end of December). It is an absolute necessity to have games at the shower? If it is a luncheon can we just eat and open gifts?

Games aren't necessary. It's your party. Host it the way you like. Some guests like games, others may think they're silly. It really depends on the group. Consider the guests (and your) personalities and host the shower that suits all of you.
