My son is getting married on Sunday. Both sides are Jewish.
My husband & I are paying for a very expensive band to play at the reception. The bride's mother has contacted our band to tell them that she does not want them to play The Hora, which is a tradtional Jewish dance at the wedding reception. I feel that this is a very important part of the reception and really want to have it. The bride & groom seem to have no say in any of the mother's decisions. The band leader is in the middle. Help.

It should be the wedding couple's decison regarding what is to be played, or not played, during their wedding reception. Who pays has no bearing, but, the bride's parents really should not be calling the vendors and making those choices. Please ask your son and his fiance what they want and ask them to convey their wishes to her parents. Then, only the bridal couple should be speaking to any vendors.

I couldn't agree more. The couple should have the very last say about all of the planning.
