Im in a wedding party and the shower was planned and everyone is expected to pay 450 a person. I work part time which gives me 14 hours a week with a pay of 250 a week. I owe 900 in school loans and car payments with addtional other bills. Im also back in school. Is it okay for a shower to cost 3000 and expect everyone in the bridal party to pay for it? My real issue is that there is no way that i can come up with this kind of money in two months when i barely make the bills. I know if i say soemthing im going to be called cheap. What should i do??

I don't know how many women are chipping in on this party but this amount seems excessive to me. These showers are not supposed to be mini receptions. They are supposed to be a small, informal gathering of those nearest and dearest to the couple.
The bridal shower is totally optional and you are not obligated to host. You can send the host here or to any etiquette book to confirm. Unless there was a meeting where you all agreed on the party and the expenses you aren't on the hook for this amount.
Just explain to the person organizing that you simply cannot afford to give this amount. Offer to give what you can, if you want to be involved.

I completely agree. And wow! That is a lot of money. Jeez.
It definitely sounds like someone has this party confused with a reception.
