My fiance and I are getting married in hawaii along with our immediate family.I have a big family so when we got back to town we were planning to have a celebration when we get back. However, how do we announce we are married and how should we address the invites since its only a reception? What is the time line to send out reception invites even though they weren't invited to the wedding in hawaii. Is it rude of me to invite them to the celebration back home and not my wedding out of state?

Dear Getting married,

No worries. This is quite common these days. It seems many couples are choosing destination weddings and returning for their receptions.

Send your reception invitations six to eight weeks before the date you have chosen. If this is before your wedding, you should use your present name. Make your RSVP date tight if you are hosting your reception soon after your wedding. You will need time to plan and finalize the guest list.

Don't worry about announcing your wedding to those whom you invite to your reception. They will understand when they read your reception invitation. This is an example of a reception invitation. You could also handwrite an invitation telling your guests about your destination wedding and your reception here at home also if this is an informal celebration. The pleasure of your company is requested at the wedding reception of Ms. Happy Bride and Mr. Happy Groom Date Time Location

RSVP (make this no more than two weeks)

Address

Best wishes,
