I'm wearing a strapless dress. It's very fitted at the top, has a dropped waist and poofs at the skirt.
I'm not very good with combining everything together to make it look right.
My hair will be all the way up (Hot July wedding!) with a medium sized tiara. What type of jewelry should I wear? I dont want to look too overdone but I dont want to look plain and simple either!

Hello,

The best advice I ever read about accesories and fashion, comes from Jackie Onassis. She had timeless style and elegance. Her rule of thumb about accesorizing, was to never wear more than 3 pieces of jewelry at the same time.

How about pretty drop earrings and a matching slim bracelet on the wrist without your wedding ring?

If you want to wear a necklace instead of long earrings, try a simple stud setting. Better to have you shine, not all your accessories all at once.

Good luck!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Your dress is strapless, which would normally call for a necklace. You can, however, go several ways: You can wear a small, evern stud earrings and a luxurious necklace, or you can wear a very delicate necklace with luxurious earrings. If you would prefer to concentrate on the earrings, especially if you are wearing your hair all the way up, you can even skip the necklace altoghether and wear chandelier earrings that will call attention to your face, hair and tiara. The key is, not to overdo the accessorizing, so if your earrings are big, the necklace should be delicate or there should not be any necklace at all, and vice versa. Enjoy the wedding!

With a fitted bodice, dropped waist and width created at the skirt, this is not a plain Jane gown! It sounds amazing! The gown alone can carry a more dramatic display of jewelry. That shape gown has what I call a period look. And that style in history always had great jewelry to go with it. My one question is, what time of day is the wedding? If it is late afternoon or evening, you can feel free to glam it up a bit with a necklace that compliments your tiara, but choose a more simple earring. If you love earrings more, (they really can set off a beautiful updo) then have a great chandelier earring that works with the tiara and skip the necklace. Personally, I love great earring with a tiara and a bare neckline. This keeps the look fresh and chic and not something out of a period film. The neckline and shoulders in a strapless gown are beautiful unadorned, but great earrings are a must to tie in the tiara. [i]
