We are having a very small wedding and only my fiancé's parents will be present. We plan to have a reception about 6 weeks after the wedding at our new home. I've read several posts and it's been mentioned that one wouldn't send announcements to people you invite to the reception. Is it improper to include both the announcement and the invite on the same card if you're planning to invite everyone you're announcing the marriage to? Below is an example I thought would be appropriate.

We are delighted to announce our marriage. Groom and bride exchanged vows on July 22, 2025 on the beautiful island of St. Thomas, USVI.

We wish to share our joy with you. Please join us at the home we now share for a celebration Saturday, September 13 Starting at 2pm.

May your presence and good wishes be your only gift to us.

If you're sending a reception invitation to a guest, they will understand that you will be married so there is no need to announce the wedding.

Please do not mention anything to do with gifts on an announcement or wedding invitation, even if it is to say that you don;t want them.

I agree. Only those not invited to the wedding or reception receives announcements.
