We are having a June beach wedding and I am not sure what flowers to use in the bridal bouquets for me (the bride) or the bridesmaids. The girls dresses are knee length, pool (blue). My groomsmen will be wearing dress shirts with khaki shorts or pants so the wedding is informal. Thank you for taking the time to help me out.

In concern to your florals, you really have two options for your bridesmaid bouquets and your bouquet.

First option is to go for something that will contrast the dresses, such as a bright red or another accent color that will "pop" off the dresses. Because you are outdoors, and the beach is a clean slate for any color scheme, you can get away with any accent color that will pair nicely with the blue you have chosen. I am not sure if you have any accent colors as of yet, but this might be a great place to tie them in. Adding color just says 'fun.'

The other option is to go with something more neutral, such as white, and tie in the "pool" blue color with beads and ribbon accessories. I have attached a photo of a recent bouquet where we did this for a bride. In the case that you choose white, you will probably be carrying a bouquet in a hue of white as well, so you need to decide if you are alright with your girls bouquets looking very similar to yours. Because blue flowers are extremely hard to match with shades of blue, I would highly recommend staying away from any blue florals, unless they truly match the dresses. In my opinion, dyed and off-matched florals look tasteless and tacky.

For the men, because they will be wearing dress shirts, as opposed to a suit or tuxedo, there is one crucial thing you must keep in mind. Whatever buttonhole you choose for them to wear, make sure that it is very simple and light weight. A rose will be much too heavy for their shirts, and will not "lay" well on their chest. You can accent the buttonholes with ribbon to match the bridesmaid dresses and tie the colors together.

Good luck with everything, let us know if you need any other assistance! But, please post any other questions as new.
