Dear all,

What are the pros and cons for selecting wedding dresses vs. skirts or, rather, a two part dress.

I am rather short with big hips and strong legs. My waist is small! I am not really comfortable in dresses where you can not hide the belly. So, I was thinking of having a skirt and a strapless top. What are the differences in style and how does each flatter the body?

I would really appreciate your advice.

Thanks

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! The easiest way to hide the belly is to wear a "princessy", cinderella-style ball-gown dress. Under so many layers of skirts, the big hips and the belly would be well-hidden! To visually elongate the top, rather than strapless, you might want to go for halter-style. Both dress or separate top and bottom will work the same way. Also, you might want to wear shoes with very thin platform and high heels, to appear higher. Try it and see how this styling will change the way you look! Good luck and enjoy the wedding!

A two piece dress allows you to buy a larger size for the bottom for a better fit. But, most bridal shops have an on site seamstress so that shouldn't be the deciding factor.

An a-line dress is great for all figures and it's especially flattering for larger bottoms.
