I am helping my niece with her wedding, however she will like to reserve tables for his and her immediate family especially since mostly everyone in both families will be traveling to attend the wedding. Her father and mother is divorce however they are good friends and she has requested the father to escort her mother. The ex-wife will be attending the wedding, however she does not want her at either of the reserve tables. Another problem, there are others who has know the family a long time and would assume they should be seating at the reserve table which they are not. We would like to make sure the close family member from both sides are at the reserve tables. We are thinking of putting place cards at each table and advised each family which table they are assigned to sit. Or would you suggest a list of each family in a frame. How about placing escort cards outside the room for reserve tables only and the number on the table. Help!

I am not totally sure I understand all of the relationships you mention but the only way to insure that the proper people sit at the reserved table is to do place cards at the table. You should also tell those involved ahead of time that they are expected to sit at those tables.
