My fiance and I are having an outdoor, morning wedding in August (in MN). She is wearing an informal wedding dress (ivory colored is all I know) and the bridesmaids are wearing plum/purple informal dresses. I will be wearing a charcoal three piece suit with an ivory tie to match her dress. We are trying to keep the wedding informal and I am wondering if khakis, white shirts, and purple ties on the groomsmen would look strange/too informal. Thanks.

Yes, it just might appear a bit strange. Khakis are quite a bit less formal than a suit. It is best for all men to wear suits or all, including you, wear khakis. If you all wear khakis, skit the ties.
