Marine Wedding Beach Color Coordination

My fiance and I are getting married in May of next year. We are planning on having an intimate wedding ceremony (of 5-10 people) on the beach. Since my fiance is in the Marines, I would like the wedding colors, scenery, my fiance's Dress Blues, and the Dress Blues of the saber holders to all compliment one another. The colors I have in mind are all over the board. I wanted beachy colors like light blue and and tan but I doubt it'd go well with the Dress Blues. Instead, I thought my maid of honor could either wear red with white flowers or wear a black dress with red flowers. Is the black or red dress appropriate, or does it take away the colors from the Marines? Should she wear a specific dress if my wedding is so small? My fiance has already expressed he doesn't want to chose a best man.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Yes, you are right: the tan and light blue will not go well with the Dress Blues of the Marines, but then again, their dress uniform is so gorgeous you should adjust all colors to go with it! Claret Red would be good color for your maid of honor's dress; white flowers sound great; I would suggest to avoid black altogether. Claret Red or any other wine color not only won't take away from them colors of the Marines, it will complement them. Enjoy the wedding!
