My brother married his wife by a justice of the peace last year and this year they are having a big wedding. Even though they are already married, should we throw a bridal shower? Her family is throwing a bridal shower, but they live about 8 hours away from our family. If we don't throw them a shower, are we obligated to attend the other shower? Also, the only family members in the wedding on our side are my two brothers, I'm the only sister, so who should throw the shower?
Thanks!

Bridal Shower for Couple Already Married
#2
Your brother and his wife are already married, so that ship has sailed. They already had their wedding and chance at pre-wedding parties. Plus, as I'm sure you've read in the many other posts we have on this subject, family members, other than bridal party members, should never host a shower. You shouldn't be expected to attend a shower, especially 8 hours away.

Showers? Wedding? As the Wedding Queen has stated, they are already married and there should be none of this. It may be best to ask your brother and sister in law to read our many posts on this subject to avoid further embarrassment and insults to her guests.
Of course all of this information is in all etiquette books as well.
