Hello,

My girlfriend and I have both been married before. Our relationship has progressed to the point where we have talked about getting married. I would love to spend the rest of my life with her. My question is whether its appropriate to buy an engagement ring for a second marriage. What is the second marriage engagement ring etiquette? do people usually buy an engagement ring for a second marriage? I just don't want to do the wrong thing. The last thing I want to do is disappoint her in any way. Your help would be greatly appreciated. [:)]

Of course you can buy her an engagement ring. After all, this is your first marriage to each other and a fresh start for you both. Just be sure you buy something that suits your budget. Also, you may want to include her in on the selection since ladies generally have a preference. Unless you think you know her tastes or she has shown you what she likes, go ring shopping together. But, if you think she is the type who prefers to be surprised, then make a choice and pop the questions. You should know her well enough to make this choice.

Thanks for confirming what I thought. I had been told that it wasn't appropriate to buy an engagement ring for a second marriage. That just didn't seem right to me. I appreciate your help.
