Our niece is being married on the west coast. We purchased airline tickets from our home on the east coast for ourselves and two children, ages 15 and 18. We have also agreed to take our 10 year old niece along. We received the official invitation in mail today. When I went online to RSVP it states that the wedding is open to everyone, but reception for adults only.
Does this mean all three children must be taken back to the hotel for the rest of the evening?
Thank you.

Children only invited to destination wedding ceremony, not reception

Dear Sdgal,
That is what this means. It's very unfortunate that your niece didn't realize that this is a major faux pas and insulting. All wedding guests are invited to the entire reception. It is probably too late to inform the couple though. But, I can imagine others will be discussing this. Hopefully it won't be too embarrassing for them.
Best wishes,

I'd leave the kids at home unless you're planning some other family events while you're there. After all, who wants to pay for plane fare and dress clothes for kids to attend an hour long event after traveling all the way across the country? Plus, there's the whole issue of leaving them in a hotel unattended.
