My daughter is getting married in a church wedding at 12 Noon. We are planning to do a receiving line outside the church with just the parents and the bride and groom. By the time the first guests get through the receiving line and get to the reception venue it will between 1:30 and 2. We were planning a cocktail hour between 2-3 and then a sit down meal. The reception is small (about 55 people). Should the meal be considered lunch or dinner?

Dear Kathy,

Actually, this is an in between time for meals. So, there really is no "name" for it. Just serve the type of food you think your guests would expect. During that time it could be very light fair, plus desserts.

Best wishes,
